Do you think this is best to do to an ex friend?
Question by MindtheIgnorance(SUSPENDED): Do you think this is best to do to an ex friend?
We are not going to be friends again. I already told her what I thought about her. SHe is really mean and obnoxious and I have a feeling she is jealous of me by the signs she has been giving me.
IF YOU WANT TO KNOW: (if you don’t go to the part that says ANYWAY)
She says what I do is stupid like playing this game and then SHE does it.
she’s a follower so she is fake.
She DOES NOT care about your feelings only hers
She lies like a hell lot even though the proof is right there!
(for example she says she has these color eyes JUST because I said my eye color was changing. It’s not important -__-)
She humiliates me in front of her friend and mine online
So one day for April Fools since she was telling me a lot of lies. And honestly I didn’t know whether to stop because she always says shut up to me, She was getting on my nerves. Okay once I said to her, “Hey how are you eyes? Dazzling huh? Hey this guy speaks Spanish let’s speak to him in spanish! Oh she has blonde hair also! (brown) eww that reminded me of the time you farted (I swear i didn’t know that this hurted her) and she got really mad.
OMG I am getting mad and you want to know why? SHe has always been being a brat to me last year. She was jealous of my intelligence and says oh but IM stronger. Like who gives a fudge?
ANYWAY I will be studying me @ss of in summer. I have been studying for years for this high school. It is the best on in my state and the most competitive. A brat like her would fail if she came there.
This is what I want to do. I want to call her from my cellphone because she doesn’t know that number and brag about how i passed.
Sorry if I sound immature, but this girl has been giving me problems.

During my life, I’ve tried to engage in productive activities, being involved in the child care department, and education program has greatly humbled me and given me a clearer direction for the future. I would like to be apart of the upward bound program because it would open doors to new opportunities to grow, learn and be involved in cultural activities, It would also give me a chance to experience and explore the benefits of attending college in which are to expand knowledge ,and grown as a person. It would be an advantage on grad school also in the working field .Being apart of the upward bound program may help me become a better leader and person with high moral standards and, plenty of confidence.
There are many answers to the question who a person is ,or what makes each of us unique beyond genetics or DNA.So who am I ?I am shy but I tend to break the shell ,as I get to know people .I am competitive ambitious , random ,and organized .I have inquisitive adventurous spirit .I don’t like to be confined by strict rules or limitations on my freedom .I become frustrated with people who are less motivated than I am or who fail to accomplish what they say they will .I am driven ,daring ,and enjoy determining new concepts that fit into existing theories. I am unique. I am Shaellah Robinson.
Although there are many environmental factors that play an important role in my life, one that stands out to me the most is Global Warming. Global warming has a big impact in everyone’s life, but many of us don’t take it serious. The way we live would be benefited we will have a green and spectacular earth, and years to come with out being worried. The animals and plants in which we share our planet with would become healthier than what they may become in the future .We need to lay down a better foundation for our future, Children’s future, and grandchildren future. Global warming is real, and we need to recognize what we have done to this magnificent planet and fix our mistakes as best we can.
Two people who has greatly influenced me in my growth and development would be my mother Renee Robinson-Ash ,and my friend Chelsea Oglesby .My mother has helped me through out life’s obstacles .She has taught me the benefits of having a brain and using it, “One thing you’ll always have that will help you is your intelligence”. My friend Chelsea has also has a impact on my life .She has help me become aware of college .If it weren’t for her I would not be aware of how much high school performance means to college. Chelsea has given me hope, and now I am more prepared for the future than I would have ever been before.
There are many definitions of education; around the world education has different meaning some of which are to get a higher level of education, to enter a higher rank, or to be someone. As for me education is more than just learning in school .Its a new perspective and growth on life. Education is express through books, poetry, etc . . . . It’s a door to opportunities .Education is a gift and not just a gift some of us receive, but it’s a gift that is given to everyone. An education is the ability to, learn, help, ad teach. Education is important because without it we can not progress in life. I believe my education also shapes my personality and gives me courage. It’s a piece of hope that I can achieve and hold onto for the rest of my life.
My future goals after High School are to attend Colorado State University ,because of its courses and landscape.I would like to double major in Law and English. These are both passions of mines that I plan on pursuing throughout my career .Law is something I feel as I can make a difference by keeping equality and fairness. Law has made a difference in society today as a whole. English on the other hand is my niche that I’ve found a good outlet to express myself .I also hope to inspire other teens in my life time to make a difference, because we are the future. I hope to start a nation wide College Awareness program I don’t believe our generation is being aware about college. Many teens are unaware of college and the principles that go with it. In English class we were asked “What college we would like to attend? and what we would like to major in?”. Many of the student were not aware of the different colleges ,and majors that one can study .My standards are set high and my dreams big , but with hard work and perseverance I can accomplish all of my goals.

US NAVY: CTI Enlist v Officer?
Question by John D: US NAVY: CTI Enlist v Officer?
I would like some advice and insight from anyone currently serving or retired. I have several questions, but first some background.
I would like to serve in the Navy as a CTI; I am 30yrs old, male, with a bachelors degree in International Relations, a masters degree and I have an aptitude for languages (I speak Spanish and am proficient in Italian and French). I spoke to an officer recruiter who informed me that my undergrad gpa was too low to be competitive (2.5). If I score high enough on the ASVAB can that compensate for my low undergrad gpa so that I could be eligible for OCS?
Also, considering my information from above, if I enlist and receive a high score on the ASVAB and the DLAB how likely is it that I could become an officer and how long would it take?
What is the difference between Intelligence and CTI? From my research they both require top secret security clearance and Intel doesn’t require languages skills. Is CTI more prestigious? I wouldn’t want to just translate all day, I’d also like to do analysis work and perhaps briefings.
Thank you very much!

Answer by alwaysdriven723
First off, I’m not currently serving or retired, but might be able to help from what I’ve gathered from my research of the branches. I believe the required GPA for Navy OCS is 3.0, but to be competitive you would really need to be around 3.5. What is your graduate GPA? I’m surprised they’re not taking your work experience into account to make up for the GPA. Try talking to another recruiter. One recruiter might not see you as being competitive enough, so he doesn’t want to spend time doing the OCS paperwork, while another recruiter might see you as being competitive and he will spend the time on the paperwork. At the end, its not the recruiter that determines whether or not you will make it into OCS, he just helps you apply for it.
If the Navy is giving you a hard time about your GPA, I would suggest to look into the Army. They don’t have a GPA requirement, although they look at the GPA when they compare applicants for OCS. You can do the same job in the Army, and the pay is the same as in the Navy (enlisted or officer).

Mayweather = underrated offence, Pacquiao = underrated defence?
Question by Alphatetic: Mayweather = underrated offence, Pacquiao = underrated defence?
We all know that Mayweather has superb defence, arguably today’s best, but why is everyone overlooking his offence? He has 25 KO in his impressive 40-0 record, which is well above 50% KO rate, 62.5% to be exact. He also packs speed and slickness and not to mention precision. For a defensive fighter, mayweather probably has one of the most underrated offence. If Mayweather wasn’t too cautious/too dependent with his defense I seriously think that he would’ve KOed Marquez. Mayweather, with his skills, talent, and, intelligence, could seriously break anyone down punch per punch. His precision combine with speed is as dangerous (perhaps even more) as pacquiao’s undetectable and dynamic punches.
Now about pacquiao. Yes, his offense, a combination of speed and power, is superb but what about his defence? For a guy who gets hit a lot, he sure can absorb a lot of them quite well. And not just punches from ordinary blokes, but fighters who were naturally bigger and stronger…I can’t even rember the last time I saw pacquiao getting legitmetely Knock down. He fought guys like morales, marquez, and barrera (arguably the top 3 featherweights of our era) not just once, but multiple times. He maybe rattled and hurt in those fights, but never went down, let alone Knocked Out.
This are reasons why I think that the fight between this two would be much more competitive than most people expect.
Any thoughts?

Q&A: United States Coast Guard Reserve and SRDC?
Question by Jeremy B: United States Coast Guard Reserve and SRDC?
Ok, I am sorry if this question has been discussed, but I cannot get a single straight answer from a recruiter. Some of the answers I do get conflict with what is on these forums. I am 24 with a Masters in Digital Art and will be receiving a second masters in computer art. I want to be part of the Coast Guard Reserve and attend the SRDC. I know this is very competitive and don’t expect anything. I only hope for the opportunity. I have looked at gocoastguard.com and it is all very vague. I know the requirements for SRDC. I’m trying to find out about careers. The site lists: Law * Environmental * Engineering * Command, Control, Communications and Computers * Computer & Information Technologies * Intelligence * Marine Safety * Operations Afloat * Operations Ashore and * Reserve Program Management. The problem is that the site does not explain the positions. I spoke to two different recruiters and both said “look at the website.” Not helpful. Also, I would really like to finish graduate school. I have nothing against doing my duty, but I feel obligated to myself to complete the task at hand. Considering the state of our Nation, should I wait to attempt to join after I graduate or is deployment for an officer in the USCG reserve not very frequent?(I even had one Recruiter say that I would not without a doubt be deployed).

In older brothers’ shadows! Need help getting out?
Question by Ethan: In older brothers’ shadows! Need help getting out?
I’m a freshman in high school (Private). My older brother is a senior at the same high school. And my oldest brother is a freshman in college.
To begin let me say that I actually skipped a grade in school, so I should really be in 8th grade.
Many people in my classes and some of my friends think I’m only smart because allegedly I’m “using my older brothers’ papers and homework.” While both my brothers are very smart, much smarter than me, in fact, they are/were both valedictorian for their senior classes, I would never even think of asking them for their old homework assignments or papers.
-I ask my brothers for help sometimes, but they help me figure out the answer, they don’t give me the answer (I’ve tried it doesn’t work).
-My brothers and I are very competitive in everything. Especially school and sports. So I’d never ask them for their homework or papers. And anyways if I did use their old school materials and studied off their old tests and quizzes like my friends think I do, it would be cheating and I wouldn’t learn anything!
-My brothers are very smart, as I’ve said before, and they barely studied for anything, they’re just naturally smart. They’d get A-’s minimum on everything…ugh. Haha other than my oldest brother who got a B in gym LOL.
-I work super hard. I study a ton. I focus on school and sports only. I rarely just hang out with friends on weekends. I have ADHD and I am dyslexic (but it was far more severe when I was a child, now its quite mild and under control) and I have spacial difficulties (meaning geometry is a killer for me). While both my brothers have ADD, they only had slight ADHD. Even with all my learning disabilities I still maintain good grades, B+s and up, nothing below B+. But it takes a lot of work and time.
-My peers don’t believe that I am smart. Although I am on the Math Team, Physics Team, and Science Olympiad Team. They think that I am only getting the grades I am receiving because I am using my brothers’ old assignments. I am not, as I have stated before, and they do not realize or understand the amount of time and effort I put into keeping my grades up.
I tried to explain this to my best friend, Liam, and he still has his doubts about my intelligence. I do not express it at school, but it really makes me feel bad that my classmates think I’m a phony. What should I do about this? How can I get people to believe me?
Best answer:
Answer by quertioning?
Well for one thing they change tests every year, give out different homework assignments and although they look at generally the same things if they just did the same tests over and over everone could cheat,
your friends dont believe your that intelligent? then their not realy that great friends are they
one thing you could do is go for something different outside of school to make you a individual from your brothers, maybe learn an instrument of some kind? but only if your interested and dont worry so much about what everyone is saying it wont always be that way after allyou could go to a completly different college to them
also try having friends outside of school, who would then know you for you not for your brothers kid brother
hope that helped… and hope it was in some way legible, im half awake here

Q&A: Anyone dislike how so many fellow Americans are dismissing quite truly intelligent fields like math, science..?
Question by say troll?: Anyone dislike how so many fellow Americans are dismissing quite truly intelligent fields like math, science..?
.., and technology in favor of humanities and liberal arts? One of many major reasons we are losing our competitive edge to China, India, and the like is because so many American students shun truly hard studies in college and instead major in crap like philosophy, sociology, art, psychology, history, etc that aside from being a lot less intellectual than fields like math, chemistry, physics, engineering, and the like, the humanities liberal arts also lead to a lot less real world skills on average. The truly intellectual math, science, and tech (i.e. engineering) fields in US colleges now have a disproportionate number of international students.
About three quarters of my honors Calculus 3011 course in college are Chinese international students. I admire their intelligence and reason to study truly intellectual stuff while so many of my fellow Americans are majoring in stuff like art, history, or philosophy and considering themselves “intellectuals” while the true intellectuals are the ones studying the hard sciences and tech stuff.
Scott Monster: Doing both is a valid and good choice. I’m mostly referring to those that completely shun the hard stuff.

What else can I possibly do to apply for Naval Academy?
Question by noobnub: What else can I possibly do to apply for Naval Academy?
Junior.
2.88 CSU GPA
2.94 College Weighted
3.00 Weighted overall
2.85 overall
(I’m well aware of my non-competitive GPA -__-)
I’m aiming for at least 200 hours of community service.
. I am in Cross Country. I’ve taken AP World History, passed the test with a 3, and am currently taking AP English, AP US History, and Honors Chem. . Been playing an instrument for roughly 8 years and am in Advanced Band. Last year I auditioned for and was accepted into the district symphonic orchestra. I was the only flute player in my entire high school band to audition for the district Honor Band, the first one formed in 3 decades. I made the cut and was able to perform with the Honor Band.
I’m a Petty Officer 2nd Class in the Sea Cadets, and 4th squad leader in my battalion. The advanced trainings that I have completed include Intelligence Training, Surgical Technician, Hospital Corpsman, Junior Petty Officer Development Training, and Petty Officer Leadership Academy.
My grades may become my downfall. Should I even try to apply for Naval Academy anyway? What else should I do?
I took the ASVAB test and ended up with a score of 84 last winter, if that counts for anything.
I may be digging here now, but I was a member of the Academic League team last year, did jazz band for 2 years, and I am a talent/video-editor for my school’s morning broadcast. I love working with video and being on TV, and am passionate about editing as well.
as a result, I currently have 800 subscribers on youtube. probably not relevant, but it might be worth mentioning if I link it to my Video-Tech class.
a below 3.0 gpa is now duly noted. I’ll just work to push that (if I even can) to 3.2 or higher I guess.
maybe I should’ve also asked “Do I need to be in Naval Academy to be an Officer in the navy? or are there alternatives (other than enlisting as E-1 and working up)?”

Answer by OrangeKitten
Sorry, I know it’s hard to hear, but a GPA below 3.0 is not going to get you a congressional nomination, say nothing of actually getting into the academy. It’s cruel, but GPA is only one of two ways they can objectively assess candidates (the other being SATs). Since you’re already well aware of this, it’s just time to accept that fact and move onwards. Your GPA is state school material so look into that. In your case you can think about ROTC although Navy ROTC programs are harder to find. You could also do OCS after graduating from a 4 year, though OCS programs have become extremely selective. But the point is you would have a chance with that, since a college record is all they will care to look at.
Edit:
Noobnub, you can earn a commission in four ways: attending the academy; doing a ROTC program; Officers Candidate School (OCS); and direct commission. Naval ROTC programs are not as common as Army/Air force ones but they do exist — ROTC programs are just classes you take while in college, but if you do the whole program you will end up with a commission (and commitment) on the day of your graduation. OCS as I mentioned has become competitive, but you basically “sign up”, go to the equivalent of officers boot camp, and then do your training. Direct commission is for people with highly specialized degrees/skills, such as physicians, nurses.

Q&A: Is this a good college essay?
Question by Brian Gold: Is this a good college essay?
“Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.” ~Albert Einstein
Since I was young, I have always had a fascination with the study of mathematics. I personally consider mathematics to be a language that describes the quantitative properties of the universe. The complex yet exact nature of this brilliant language has accurately and precisely explained frontiers of concepts that would be of academic bewilderment without its assistance. Regardless of math’s several dialects, almost all of math that has been derived follows the laws of syllogism, meaning that all derived math can be traced back to established truths or axioms. This logic, that is absent from most of the other spoken languages of the world, allows one to use mathematics universally to describe almost any physically tangible or theoretical concept to an exactness that no other method can produce. It also makes mathematics one of the only expanding languages as mathematicians come across new number patterns and relationships through further study. I personally discovered the law of syllogism as I progressed to different areas of mathematics. Throughout math classes in grade school I attempted to discover patterns that developed in various areas of mathematics. In the eighth grade I derived the difference of squares, and perfect square rules of factoring, through an observation of a reoccurring pattern. At the time though I thought I had discovered a pattern in mathematics that had never been seen before by mathematicians. Academically, there was no greater feeling in the world.
During the ninth grade of freshman year I joined the school math team which partakes in the Greater Boston Math League competitions with other schools in Massachusetts. While on this team I explored concepts that further expanded upon learned concepts in high school, in addition to the introduction of unique concepts that were not taught during high school. During my senior year I became vice president of the club. The competitive and educational nature of the club was of great appeal to me during my four years as a member of the club.
What drives people in their studies is the passion they have for their subject matter. The more one loves doing something the more thorough they will be in achieving their goals. Additionally, they won’t settle for something that is inadequate or incomplete. The logistical nature of mathematics and my appreciation of its brilliance and value have inspired me to learn all concepts of mathematics that have been currently discovered and the theory behind their discovery. I hope to one day, through further study, experience, and knowledge, assist with the discovery of new mathematical concepts, formulas and theorems. Applications of mathematics are relatively endless. Perhaps one day mathematicians and economists will create a model that can stabilize the economy in the event of a depression or recession. Maybe one day physicists and mathematicians will discover if it is possible for an object to achieve the speed of light; and use that knowledge to travel to other planets and solar systems. Hopefully one day our education system will inspire more people to undertake an interest in mathematics. The opportunities that mathematics provides are endless and vital to the growth in the intelligence of society.
Mainly I want to know if it is interesting enough, and if it reflects me as a person.
